THE PROCESS OF MINIMALISM

Creative Mornings, a breakfast lecture series for the creative community, has been an endless source of inspiration for me. One of my favorite talks was given by Anthony Casalena on The Process of Minimalism.

"Sometimes photographing is not about telling a story, but about cultivating sensibility."

I recently attended a panel discussion in which artist Theo Jansen, along with photographer Lena Herzog, discussed the arrival of his magical Strandbeests to America. One of my friends asked Lena how she found her own artistic voice during the process of documenting Theo's work, being that the machines themselves are simply stunning. She then began to speak to her process and that through photographing, we can fall into breathing with the world, and that in these moments, we can identify the mystery, even if it is for a brief second.

HOLY SPIRIT & THE ARTS

The article endorsed “an organic approach that emphasizes union with the Savior as the source and sustaining influence of our creative work”. For more of my thoughts on this notion, click here
