From Ben Chestnut's 2011 Creative Mornings talk.
The above quote is from a piece by Makoto Fujimura entitled "What do you want to make today?".
I recently attended a panel discussion in which artist Theo Jansen, along with photographer Lena Herzog, discussed the arrival of his magical Strandbeests to America. One of my friends asked Lena how she found her own artistic voice during the process of documenting Theo's work, being that the machines themselves are simply stunning. She then began to speak to her process and that through photographing, we can fall into breathing with the world, and that in these moments, we can identify the mystery, even if it is for a brief second.
